I was praying, and the Messenger of Allah passed by me and called me, but I did not go to him until I had finished praying. Then I went to him and he said: What prevented you from coming to me? He said: I was praying. He said: Didn’t Allah say: O you who have believed, respond to Allah and the Messenger when he calls you to that which will give you life [Al-Anfal 24]. Then he said: Shall I not teach you the greatest surah in the Qur’an before I go out of the mosque? Then the Messenger of Allah went to leave, so I reminded him, and he said: {Praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds} [Al-Fatehah]. These are the seven repeated verses and the great Qur’an that I had been given.
A man heard another reciting (Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad) [Al-Ikhlas] repeatedly. In the morning, he came to the Prophet (PBUH) and he mentioned that to Him, so the Messenger of Allah said: By the One in Whose Hand is my self, it is equivalent to a third of the Qur’an.
I followed the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) while he was riding, so I placed my hand on his foot and said: Recite to me, O Messenger of Allah, Surat Hud and Surat Yusuf. He said: You will not recite anything more comprehensive and eloquent before Allah than: (Say I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak.) [Al-Falaq], and (Say I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind.) [Al-Nas].
