(11) Indeed, those who came with falsehood are a group among you. Do not think it bad for you; rather it is good for you. For every person among them is what [punishment] he has earned from the sin, and he who took upon himself the greater portion thereof - for him is a great punishment.
(14) And if it had not been for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy in this world and the Hereafter, you would have been touched for that [lie] in which you were involved by a great punishment.
(17) Allah warns you against returning to the likes of this [conduct], ever, if you should be believers. (18) And Allah makes clear to you the verses, and Allah is Knowing and Wise.
While I was sitting with 'Aishah, a woman from the Ansar came in and said: May Allah do this and that to so-and-so. Um Ruman said: What is that? The woman said: My son was among those who told the story (of the Slander). Um Riman said: What is that? The woman then told her the story. 'Aishah asked: Have the Messenger of Allah heard about it? She replied: Yes. 'Aishah asked: And Abu Bakr? She replied: Yes. 'Aishah then fell unconscious. When she regained her consciousness, she was struck with a fever and chills. So I threw her clothes over her and covered her. Then the Prophet (PBUH) came and said: What is the matter with her? I said: O Messenger of Allah, a fever and chills have seized her. He said: Perhaps beacause of the story that is being told?! She replied: Yes. Then 'Aishah sat down and said: By Allah, if I took an oath, you would not believe me, and if I talked, you would not excuse me. My example and your example are like that of Jacob and his sons. {.. Allah is the one sought for help to bear your claims} [Yousuf: 18]. Narrator said: And he went out and did not say anything. Then Allah revealed her her innocence. Som she said: Praise due to Allah, not to anyone else, nor to you.
