There are three things that the Messenger of Allah used to do but people had abandoned them. The prophet (PBUH) used to raise his hands outstretched at the beginning of a prayer, do Takbeer (saying “Allahu Akbar") whenever he bowed and rose, and to pause before reciting, asking Allah for his bounty.

He used to say this supplication: Oh Allah, purify me with hail, snow, and cold water. Oh Allah, cleanse me from sins and purify me from them, just as a white garment is purified from filth.
