(26) When those who disbelieved had put into their hearts chauvinism - the chauvinism of the time of ignorance. But Allah sent down His tranquillity upon His Messenger and upon the believers and imposed upon them the word of righteousness, and they were more deserving of it and worthy of it. And ever is Allah, of all things, Knowing.
Quraysh made peace with the Prophet (PBUH) and among them was Suheil ibn 'Amr. The Prophet (PBUH) said to Ali: Write: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Suheil said: As for "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful," we do not know what "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful" is. But write what we know: "In Your name, O Allah." The Prophet (PBUH) said: Write: "From Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah.” Suheil said: If we knew that you were the Messenger of Allah, we would follow you, but write your name and the name of your father. The Prophet (PBUH) said: Write: "From Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah.” They stipulated with the Prophet (PBUH) that whoever comes from you [muslims], we [Quraysh] will not return him to you, and whoever comes from us [Quraysh], you [muslims] will return him to us. Some of the companions said: O Messenger of Allah, will you write this? He replied: Yes, whoever goes from us to them, may Allah distances him, and whoever comes to us from them, Allah will make for him a way out and relief.
