The Messenger of Allah fought a warrior from Khasaffah, in Nakhl, and they distinguished him among Muslims by surprise, so a man from among them, called Ghawarth bin Al-Harith, came along until he stood over the head of the Messenger of Allah with a sword. The man said: Who will ward you off from me? The prohet said: Allah. So the sword fell from the man's hand, and the Messenger of Allah took it and said: Who will ward you off from me? The man said: Pardon me. The prohet said: Do you bear witness that there is no god but Allah? He said: No, but I promise you that I will not fight you, nor will I be with people who fight you. So he let him go. The narrator continues: So the man went to his people and said: I have come to you from the best of people. When it was noon or afternoon, the prohet (PBUH) led them with the prayer of fear, and the people were in two groups, one group facing their enemy, and one group praying with the Messenger of Allah, so he prayed with the this group two rak'ahs, then they left and took the place of those who were facing their enemy. Then those who did not pray came and the Messenger of Allah prayed two rak'ahs with them. So the people in each group had two rak'ahs, and the Messenger of Allah had four rak'ahs.

The Prophet (PBUH) prayed the fear prayer with one group praying one rak’ah and two prostrations, and the other group facing the enemy. Then the group that prayed with the Prophet (PBUH) left and the other group came, so the Prophet (PBUH) prayed one rak’ah and two prostrations with them. Then the Prophet concluded the prayer with tasleem. Then each man from the two groups stood up and prayed one rak’ah and two prostrations alone.
