The Prophet (PBUH) performed i'tikaf (ritual seclusion) and addressed the people, he said: When one of you stands for prayer, he is in a private converse with his Lord. So let each one of you know what he is conversing with his Lord, and do not recite loudly over one another during prayer.

You see me facing the Qiblah! But by Allah, neither your reverence nor your bowing is hidden from me. I see you behind my back.

'A'ishah had a garment with pictures on it stretched out on a niche, and the Prophet (PBUH) was praying facing it, so he said: Take it away from me. She said: So I took it off and made it into pillows.

I asked the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) about looking around during prayer. So he said that it is a portion that Satan steals from a servant’s prayer.
