(124) And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham was tried by his Lord with commands and he fulfilled them. [Allah] said, "Indeed, I will make you a leader for the people." [Abraham] said, "And of my descendants?" [Allah] said, "My covenant does not include the wrongdoers. (125) And [mention] when We made the House a place of return for the people and [a place of] security. And take, [O believers], from the standing place of Abraham a place of prayer. And We charged Abraham and Ishmael, [saying], "Purify My House for those who perform Tawaf and those who are staying [there] for worship and those who bow and prostrate [in prayer]. (126) And [mention] when Abraham said, "My Lord, make this a secure city and provide its people with fruits - whoever of them believes in Allah and the Last Day." [Allah] said. "And whoever disbelieves - I will grant him enjoyment for a little; then I will force him to the punishment of the Fire, and wretched is the destination. (127) And [mention] when Abraham was raising the foundations of the House and [with him] Ishmael, [saying], "Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing. (128) Our Lord, and make us Muslims [in submission] to You and from our descendants a Muslim nation [in submission] to You. And show us our rites and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful. (129) Our Lord, and send among them a messenger from themselves who will recite to them Your verses and teach them the Book and wisdom and purify them. Indeed, You are the Exalted in Might, the Wise. (130) And who would be averse to the religion of Abraham except one who makes a fool of himself. And We had chosen him in this world, and indeed he, in the Hereafter, will be among the righteous. (131) When his Lord said to him, "Submit.", he said "I have submitted [in Islam] to the Lord of the worlds. (132) And Abraham instructed his sons [to do the same] and [so did] Jacob, [saying], "O my sons, indeed Allah has chosen for you this religion, so do not die except while you are Muslims.
(74) And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham said to his father Azar, "Do you take idols as deities? Indeed, I see you and your people to be in manifest error. (75) And thus did We show Abraham the realm of the heavens and the earth that he would be among the certain [in faith]. (76) So when the night covered him [with darkness], he saw a star. He said, "This is my lord." But when it set, he said, "I like not those that disappear. (77) And when he saw the moon rising, he said, "This is my lord." But when it set, he said, "Unless my Lord guides me, I will surely be among the people gone astray. (78) And when he saw the sun rising, he said, "This is my lord; this is greater." But when it set, he said, "O my people, indeed I am free from what you associate with Allah. (79) Indeed, I have turned my face toward He who created the heavens and the earth, inclining toward truth, and I am not of those who associate others with Allah. (15) [Allah] said, "Indeed, you are of those reprieved. (16) [Satan] said, "Because You have put me in error, I will surely sit in wait for them on Your straight path.
(69) And certainly did Our messengers come to Abraham with good tidings; they said, "Peace." He said, "Peace," and did not delay in bringing [them] a roasted calf. (70) But when he saw their hands not reaching for it, he distrusted them and felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not. We have been sent to the people of Lot. (71) And his Wife was standing, and she smiled. Then We gave her good tidings of Isaac and after Isaac, Jacob. (72) She said, "Woe to me! Shall I give birth while I am an old woman and this, my husband, is an old man? Indeed, this is an amazing thing!" (73) They said, "Are you amazed at the decree of Allah? May the mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you, people of the house. Indeed, He is Praiseworthy and Honorable. (74) And when the fright had left Abraham and the good tidings had reached him, he began to argue with Us concerning the people of Lot. (75) Indeed, Abraham was forbearing, grieving and [frequently] returning [to Allah]. (76) [The angels said], "O Abraham, give up this [plea]. Indeed, the command of your Lord has come, and indeed, there will reach them a punishment that cannot be repelled.
(120) Indeed, Abraham was a [comprehensive] leader, devoutly obedient to Allah, inclining toward truth, and he was not of those who associate others with Allah. (121) [He was] grateful for His favors. Allah chose him and guided him to a straight path. (122) And We gave him good in this world, and indeed, in the Hereafter he will be among the righteous.
(54) And mention in the Book, Ishmael. Indeed, he was true to his promise, and he was a messenger and a prophet. (55) And he used to enjoin on his people prayer and zakah and was to his Lord pleasing.
(112) And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous. (113) And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself.
When there was some dispute between Abraham and his wife, he went out with Ishmael and Ishmael’s mother. They had a water skin with them in which there was water. Ishmael’s mother began to drink from the skin, and her milk flowed to her child until they reached Mecca. Abraham seated her under a tree, then he returned to his family. Ishmael’s mother followed him until they reached Kada’. She called him from behind him, O Abraham, to whom are you leaving us? He said: To Allah. She said: I am satisfied with Allah. So she returned and began to drink from the water skin, and her milk flowed to her child until the water ran out. She thought: Maybe I should go and have a look, perhaps I will find someone. So she went and climbed As-Safa and kept looking to see if she could find anyone, but she did not. When she reached the valley, she paced to Al-Marwa and did that for a few rounds and then thought: Maybe I should go to check on the boy. So she went and looked and lo! He was in the same state and looked if he was dying. But her soul did not allow her to give up, so she thought: Maybe I should go and have a look, perhaps I might find someone. So she went and climbed As-Safa and kept looking, but did not find anyone until she completed seven rounds, then she thought: Maybe I should go and check on the boy. Then she heard a voice, so she said: Help, if you can offer any help. Lo! It was Gabriel. So he touched the ground with his heel. Then the water gushed out, and Ismail’s mother was astonished and she began to dig. Narrator says: Abu Al-Qasim (PBUH) said: If she had left it [without digging], the water would have been flowing on the surface of the earth. Then she began to drink from the water and her milk flowed to her child. Then some people from Jurhum passed by the valley and saw birds. It was as if they could not believe it and said: Birds only come where there is water. So they sent their messenger and he looked and found the water. So he went back to them and informed them. So they came to her and said: O mother of Ishmael, do you give us permission to stay with you or to dwell with you. Later, her son reached puberty and married a woman from them. Then it occurred to Abraham to go and check on those who he had left. So he said to his wife: I will go to check on those who I had left. So he went there and greeted Ishmael's wife and asked her: Where is Ishmael? Ishmael's wife said: He went out for hunting. He said: Tell him when he comes back to change the threshold of your door. So when Ishmael came back, she informed him. He said: You are the threshold. Go to your family. Then it occurred to Abraham to go and check on those who he had left. So he said to his wife: I will go to check on those who I had left. So he went there and asked: Where is Ishmael? His wife replied: He went out for hunting. She added: Why don't you come in and eat and drink? Abraham asked: And what is your food and what is your drink? She said: Our food is meat and our drink is water. He said: O Allah, bless their food and their drink. Narrator said: Abu Al-Qasim (PBUH) said: A blessing from the supplication of Abraham. Narrator continued: Then once more, it occurred to Abraham to go and check on those who he had left. So he said to his wife: I will go to check on those who I had left. So he went and met Ishmael behind Zamzam. He was repairing his arrow. Abraham said: O Ishmael, your Lord has commanded me to build him a house [mosque]. Ishmael replied: Obey your Lord. Abraham said: He has commanded me that you should help me with it. Ishmael replied: Then, I will do it. So they got up, and Abraham began to build, and Ishmael was handing him the stones, and they were both saying: {...Our Lord, accept [this] from us, for verily, you are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing} [Al-Baqarah: 127]. As the building rose higher and the old man was unable to lift the stones, he stood on the stone of Al-Maqam and Ishmael began to hand him the stones, and they were both saying: {...Our Lord, accept [this] from us, for verily, you are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing}.
A man said to the Prophet (PBUH): O best of creation. He replied: That is Abraham.
