I am like a man who kindled a fire, and when it lighted up everything around it, moths and those insects that fall into fire started to fall into it. So the man began to hold them back, but they get the better of him and plunge into it. So, that is an example of me and you. I am grabbing you by your girdles away from the Fire. Come away from the Fire. Come away from the Fire, but you are getting the better of me and plunging into it.

The Prophet (PBUH) recited the words of Allah Almighty in Surah of Ibrahim: (Lord, they have misled many of the people..) [Ibrahim: 36], and Jesus said: (If you torture them, they are your slaves, and if you forgive them, verily you are the Almighty, All-Wise) [Al-Ma’idah: 118]. Then he raised his hands and said: Oh Allah, my nation, my nation. And he (PBUH) wept. So Allah said: O Gabriel, go to Muhammad -and your Lord knows best, and ask him why he is crying. Then Gabriel came to the Prophet (PBUH) and asked him, then he (Gabriel) told Allah -and he knows best. So Allah said: O Gabriel, go to Muhammad and tell him: We will make you pleased regarding your nation, and will not make you sad.
