The Messenger of Allah made supplications against those who killed the companions of Bi'r Ma'unah for thirty mornings. He made supplications against Ra'l, Zthakwan, and 'Useiyah who disobeyed Allah and his Messenger.
The Prophet (PBUH) sent his maternal uncle Haram, the brother of Um Suleim, with seventy men to Bani 'Amer. When they arrived, my maternal uncle said to them [companions]: I will go ahead of you If they grant me security until I convey to them the message of the Messenger of Allah, otherwise you will be close to me. So he went ahead and they granted him security. While he was conveying the message of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) to them, they beckoned to a man, so he stabbed him to death. Haram said: Allah is Greater, I have won, by the Lord of the Ka'bah. Then they turned against the rest of his companions and killed them, except for a lame man among them who had climbed the mountain. Hammam said: I think he [Anas] mentioned another man with the lame man on the mountain. Anas also told us that Gabriel came to the Prophet (PBUH) and informed him that they [the martyred companions] had met their Lord, and he was pleased with them and made them pleased. Anas said, They [companions] used to recite [as a Qur'anic verse]: {Tell our people that we have met our Lord, so he was pleased with us and made us pleased}. Then it was abrogated after that, and the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) made supplications against them for thirty mornings, against Ra'l, Zthakwan, Bani Lihyan, and 'Useiyah, who disobeyed Allah and his Messenger or disobeyed the Most Merciful.
