On the day of Badr, I was standing in the row, looking to my right and to my left, and I found myself between two young boys from Al-Ansar. I wished I was between stronger men. One of them nudged me and said: Uncle, do you know Abu Jahl? I said: Yes, and what is your need, my nephew? He said: It was told that he insulted the Messenger of Allah (PBUH). By the One in whose Hand is my soul, if I saw him, I will not leave him until the one us who is destined to die earlier is killed. The other nudged me and said similar words to me. I was amazed at that. I did not wait long before I saw Abu Jahl walking among the people. I said to them: Don’t you see?! This is your friend whom you were asking about. They rushed towards him and faced him, and they struck him until they killed him. Then they returned to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and informed him. He said: Which of you killed him? Each of them said: I killed him. The Prophet (PBUH) said: Did you wipe your swords? They said: No. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) looked at the two swords and said: You both killed him. And he decided that his spoils would go to Mu'azth ibn 'Amr ibn Al-Jamuh. They [the two boys] were Mu'azth ibn 'Amr ibn Al-Jamuh and Mu'azth ibn 'Afra'.
