A funeral procession passed by the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), and people praised the deceased. The Prophet (PBUH) said: It is due. Then another funeral procession passed by, and people spoke badly of the deceased. The Prophet (PBUH) said: It is due. So people exclaimed: You said for the first funeral, that it was granted, and for this second: It was granted?! The Prophet (PBUH) said: It is the testimony of people. Believers are the witnesses of Allah on earth.
