(19) O you who have believed, it is not lawful for you to inherit women by compulsion. And do not make difficulties for them in order to take [back] part of what you gave them unless they commit a clear immorality. And live with them in kindness. For if you dislike them - perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good.
The Prophet (PBUH) used to ask for our permission when it was the day of a woman from among us, after this verse was revealed: {You may make any of -your women- wait and receive any of them as you wish} [Al-Ahzab: 51]. Mu'azthah said to her: So what were you saying to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH)? She replied: I used to say: If this was up to me, then I would not prefer anyone over me.
Treat women kindly, for a woman was created from a rib, and the most crooked part of the rib is its top. If you try to straighten it, you break it, and if you leave it, it will remain crooked. Treat women kindly.
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was on a journey and with him was a black slave called Anjashah driving the camels and singing to them. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: Woe to you, Anjasha, slow down while driving with glass vessels [women].
