I declare sacred what is between the two lava fields of Medina, so its large thorn trees may not be cut off or its game killed. He also said: Medina is better for them, if they only knew. No one leaves it out of disinclination for it except that Allah replaces him with someone better than him. No one remains there steadfast despite hardship and distress except that I will be his witness or intercessor on the Day of Resurrection.

Medina is a sanctuary from so to so. Its trees should not be cut down, and no heresy/innovation should be committed in it. Whoever committed heresy/innovation will incur the curse of Allah, the angels, and all mankind.

Abraham declared Mecca a sanctuary, and made supplications for it. I declared Medina a sanctuary as Abraham declared Mecca a sanctuary and I made supplications for them and for their Mudd and the Sa' (measuring tools) as Abraham did for Mecca.

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) pointed with his hands towards Medina and said: It is a safe sanctuary.
