I incurred a financial responsibility, so I came to the Prophet (PBUH) and asked him for support. He said: Stay until the charity comes in to us, so that we order it to be given to you. The Prophet (PBUH) added: Asking for charity is not permissible except in three cases: A man who has incurred a financial responsibility, so asking for charity would be permissible for him until he pays it off, then he should hold. A man who has been afflicted by a calamity that destroyed his wealth, so asking for charity would be permissible for him until he gets what is enough to support his livelihood or to secure a subsistence. Or a man who is afflicted with poverty, until three wise men of his folks acknowledge that so-and-so has been afflicted with poverty, so asking for charity would be permissible for him until he gets what is enough to support his livelihood or to secure a subsistence, then he should hold. Asking for charity beyond that is unlawful O Qubeisah, and the one who takes it is consuming it unlawfully.
