The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) arranged a race between lean horses that have been prepared for racing from Al-Hafiya' to Thaniyat Al-Wada', and a another race between those that have not been prepared from Thaniyat Al-Wada’ to Bani Zureiq Mosque.
Al-'Adhba' [a she-camel of the prophet (PBUH)] had not been outstripped by another. So a nomadic Arab came on a young camel of his and it outstripped it. That annoyed the companions of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), so the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: Verily, Allah takes a duty upon himself that nothing would be put up in this world except that he would put it down.
No wagers [allowed] except in [competitions involving] camels, blades, or horses.
