The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) went out one day and prayed over the people of Uhud as he would pray over the deceased. Then he turned to the pulpit and said: I am your predecessor and I am a witness over you. And by Allah, I am looking right now at my Basin. I have been given the keys to the treasures of the earth. And by Allah, I do not fear that you would associate anything with Allah after me, but I fear that you will compete over it [the worldly treasures].
