(138) Give tidings to the hypocrites that there is for them a painful punishment.
(145) Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire - and never will you find for them a helper. (146) Except for those who repent, correct themselves, hold fast to Allah, and are sincere in their religion for Allah, for those will be with the believers. And Allah is going to give the believers a great reward.
(63) Do they not know that whoever opposes Allah and His Messenger - that for him is the fire of Hell, wherein he will abide eternally? That is the great disgrace.
(68) Allah has promised the hypocrite men and hypocrite women and the disbelievers the fire of Hell, wherein they will abide eternally. It is sufficient for them. And Allah has cursed them, and for them is an enduring punishment.
(80) Ask forgiveness for them, [O Muhammad], or do not ask forgiveness for them. If you should ask forgiveness for them seventy times - never will Allah forgive them. That is because they disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger, and Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.
(15) Allah has prepared for them a severe punishment. Indeed, it was evil that they were doing. (16) They took their [false] oaths as a cover, so they averted [people] from the way of Allah, and for them is a humiliating punishment. (17) Never will their wealth or their children avail them against Allah at all. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally.
(6) It is all the same for them whether you ask forgiveness for them or do not ask forgiveness for them; never will Allah forgive them. Indeed, Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.
When Abdullah bin Ubayy died, his son came to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and said: O Messenger of Allah, give me your shirt to shroud him in it, pray for him, and ask forgiveness for him. So he gave him his shirt and said: Let Me know by then. When he went to hold funeral prayer over him, Omar said: Allah has forbidden you to pray for the hypocrites! So the prohet (PBUH) said: I am between two choices: {Ask forgiveness for them or do not ask forgiveness for them} [At-Tawbah: 80], and he prayed for him. So Allah Almighty revealed: {And do not ever hold -funeral- prayers over any of their dead} [Al-Tawbah: 84]. The narrator said: So funeral prayers over them were abandoned.
