(155) Indeed, those of you who turned back on the day the two armies met, it was Satan who caused them to slip because of some [blame] they had earned. But Allah has already forgiven them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Forbearing.
Abu Talhah was shooting in front of the Prophet (PBUH) on the day of Uhud, and the Prophet (PBUH) was behind him, shielding himself with him. Abu Talhah was an archer. Whenever he shot, the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) would raise his head to see where his arrow would fall, and Abu Talhah would raise his chest and say: May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah, do not, lest you get struck by an arrow. My neck rather than yours. Abu Talhah would offer himself in front of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and say: I am strong, O Messenger of Allah, so direct me in your needs and command me to do whatever you wish.
