A man intended to give a charity. So he went out with his charity and placed it in the hand of a thief. Next morning, people were gossiping about him giving charity to a thief. The man said: Oh Allah, all praise is due to you, then he intended to give another charity. So he went out with his charity and put it in the hand of an adulteress. Next morning, people were gossiping about him giving charity to an adulteress last night. The man said: Oh Allah, all praise is due to you, for an adulteress, then he intended to give another charity. So he went out with his charity and put it in the hand of a rich man. Next morning, people were gossiping about him giving charity to a rich man. So The man said: Oh Allah, all praise is due to you, for a thief, an adulteress, and for a rich man. Then, the man had a dream in which he was told that: As for your charity to a thief, perhaps he will refrain from stealing. As for the adulteress, perhaps she will refrain from her adultery. As for the rich man, perhaps he will reflect -on the incedent- and start spending from what Allah has given him.
