My father died and he had a debt, so I offered his creditors to take dates in lieu for what my father owed them, but they refused and did not see that it was sufficient to pay them. So I went to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and mentioned that to him. He said: When you pluck the dates and collect them in the mirbad [a place where dates are dried], let me know. So when I had plucked the dates and put it in the mirbad, I went to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), so he came accompanied by Abu Bakr and 'Umar. He sat on the dates and prayed for blessings, then he said: Call your creditors and pay them. He said: I did not leave anyone to whom my father owed anything without paying them off, and yet I had thirteen wasqs [around 1690 Kg] left. So I mentioned that to the Prophet (PBUH), so he laughed and said: Go to Abu Bakr and 'Umar and tell them about it. So I went to Abu Bakr and 'Umar and told them. They said: We knew when the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) did what he did that this would happen!
We were with the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) on a journey, and the provisions of people were running out. People were considering slaughtering some of their riding animals. So 'Umar said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what if you gather what remains of the provisions of people and invoke Allah's blessings upon it? So the Prophet (PBUH) did. Those who had barley brought their barley, and those who had dates brought their dates. The Prophet (PBUH) invoked Allah's blessings upon it until people filled their provisions. Then he said: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that I am the Messenger of Allah. No slave meets Allah with these two beliefs, without doubting them, except that he will enter Paradise.
