(12) O Prophet, when the believing women come to you pledging to you that they will not associate anything with Allah, nor will they steal, nor will they commit unlawful sexual intercourse, nor will they kill their children, nor will they bring forth a slander they have invented between their arms and legs, nor will they disobey you in what is right - then accept their pledge and ask forgiveness for them of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
I came to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) with some women to pledge allegiance to him. They said: We pledge allegiance to you, O Messenger of Allah, that we will not associate anything with Allah, nor steal, nor commit adultery, nor kill our children, nor come up with a slander that we have deliberately forged, nor disobey you in what is good. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: For as much as you can and are capable of. I said: Allah and his Messenger (PBUH) are more merciful to us than we are to ourselves. Come on, let us pledge allegiance to you, O Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah said: I do not shake hands with women. My words to a hundred women are the same as my words to one, or are like my words to one woman.
