We went out -traveled- with Ibn Omar and prayed the prescribed prayer. Then he saw some of his sons praying supergretory prayers. So, Ibn Omar said: I prayed with the Prophet (PBUH), Abu Bakr, Omar, and Uthman while traveling, and they did not pray before or after it -shortened prescribed prayers. Ibn Omar added: If I am to pray supergretory pryers, I would have completed the -shortened prescribed- one.

I fell ill. So, Ibn Umar came to visit me. Then I asked him about the tasbeeh -glorification of Allah- while travelling? He said: I accompanied the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) on journey. I did not see him doing tasbeeh. And if I were to do it, I would have complete the prayer. Allah Almighty said: (Indeed for you, there has been a good example in the Messenger of Allah) [Al-Ahzab: 21].
